Everton fell to a 4-2 defeat to Brentford at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

David Moyes’ side were really sloppy defensively and allowed Brentford frontman Igor Thiago to run riot, as he netted a hat-trick.

Leon Osman was very critical of Tim Iroegbunam, and Vitali Mykolenko received a lot of backlash for his display, too.

Merlin Rohl also looked miles off the pace, and fans are starting to become concerned about whether he is up to the standard.

Is that the worst individual performance from an Everton player this season? 😬

With all that said, Opta’s supercomputer has made a fresh prediction on where Everton will finish following the humiliating defeat.

Opta predicts Everton to finish 14th in the Premier League

Following Everton’s 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest, many were starting to dream of qualifying for Europe.

Moyes’ side were just a couple of points behind fifth-placed Chelsea, so there was belief of a top-six finish.

Alan Myers Q&A on talking points

But, the landscape has completely changed after Sunday’s result, especially due to the manner of the performance.

The Toffees have now slipped into the bottom half of the table and are looking a lot more exposed squad-wise due to the injuries and AFCON absences.

With that said, Opta’s supercomputer has now predicted Everton to finish as low as 14th place on just 50 points.

Everton need January reinforcements

If Everton are to bounce back and climb up the table into the European spots, they will need some January reinforcements.

The full-back areas, especially, are causing the Toffees some real problems, as Mykolenko and Jake O’Brien offer little to nothing going forward.

They’re also very limited on the ball, so it’s sometimes difficult for Moyes’ side to build out from the back and retain possession.

Alan Myers does expect Everton to sign a full-back this month, with Fulham’s Antonee Robinson of interest.

Preston North End’s Thierry Small has also been mooted with a return to Merseyside, whilst Sevilla’s Juanlu Sanchez has been namechecked, too.
