Everton didn’t have much to shout about at St Mary’s, but a number of fans were quick to recognise the positive performance of one player in particular.
It was a game filled with a fair bit of controversy at St Mary’s as Everton had an equaliser disallowed late on in the game for offside, much to the disgust of Beto.
Interestingly, Mike Dean actually thought Beto’s goal looked onside prior to VAR making the decision that it was offside, but there’s not much we can do about that.
It just wasn’t to be for Sean Dyche‘s men as they squandered too many opportunities and were all over the place defensively for the Adam Armstrong goal.
However, in what was a disappointing day for the Toffees, a number of fans have been high in praise for one particular Everton player on social media.
Orel Mangala’s performance in numbers for Everton
Abdoulaye Doucoure missed the Southampton clash due to injury, which saw Orel Mangala slot into the middle of midfield alongside Idrissa Gana Gueye.
To be fair to Mangala he didn’t disappoint, putting in a shit in the middle.

There were a couple of moments where he could have done better with the ball, but on the whole he was one of the better players on the field for Everton.
He played the full 90 minutes, taking 40 touches in that time, achieving a passing accuracy percentage of 85, blocking one shot, completing both his dribbles, winning six duels, making one interception, one tackle and one clearance, as well as being fouled twice (SofaScore).
