Guela Doue is admired by Everton, who may yet have hope of signing the right-back.

After signing Hayden Hackney, the Toffees are now looking to make further additions and right-back is most definitely high on the agenda.

If you were Angus Kinnear who would you be going all out for this summer? 💰

A host of names have been linked with Everton in recent weeks.

Ben White and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are thought to be of interest, and there is also interest in Raoul Bellanova.

But Guela Doue has also been a name mentioned a few times lately – and Everton may well have been given encouragement tonight.

There has been a development at Inter which may well be good news for Everton.

The Italian giants have struck a deal with Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise to sign Anan Khalaili, who ironically has been on Everton’s transfer radar.

But while this is potentially a bit of a blow, it does potentially suggest that Everton have an improved chance of signing Guela Doue, who was also wanted by Inter.

It is difficult to see Inter going after Doue now that a deal is in place for Khalaili, so this may be an invitation for the Toffees.

However, things are not straightforward.

It’s been claimed previously that Doue – who played for Ivory Coast at the World Cup – could well be out of Everton’s budget.

Last month his value was said to be about £40 million (via talkSPORT), which would make him one of the most expensive right-backs ever in the Premier League.

Perhaps this valuation could come down a bit towards the end of the window, if clubs were not forthcoming with offers and Strasbourg wanted to cash in.

After watching him for England vs Croatia, I’m convinced he’d be the perfect right-back signing this summer! 🔥

But Inter’s deal for Khalaili appears to be one less rival in the picture, so perhaps Everton will keep an eye on things with Doue.

Realistically though, signing Doue for a lower fee could take some real negotiation.

But Everton recruitment officials have done a decent job so far this summer with the Hackney and George deals, so perhaps there is room for a bit of optimism over Doue yet.
