Everton fans are gearing up for David Moyes’ second spell in charge, after he was appointed as Sean Dyche’s successor on Saturday.
The Toffees recently came under new ownership with The Friedkin Group and just weeks later, the club is now under new management with Moyes making a sensational return to Goodison Park.
Sean Dyche left after telling The Friedkin Group he’d taken the team as far as he could.
That made the decision simple for TFG, and by Saturday morning Moyes had been confirmed.
Moyes held his first press conference on Monday and struck a professional tone. He knows there’s a big job to be done, and it starts tomorrow night with Everton in action against Aston Villa.
It’ll be a tough game with Villa a great outfit under Unai Emery.
But the match is at Goodison Park which will no doubt be rocking for Moyes’ first game back.
Everyone associated with the club is hoping this appointment works out, and in the eyes of former Toffees striker Pat Nevin, TFG have made a good choice.
Pat Nevin outlines why David Moyes was the best appointment Everton could make

Many fans rejoiced when news came through that Dyche had left.
While there is an appreciation for what he did in terms of keeping the club in the Premier League, so felt that him staying on until the end of this season would have resulted in relegation.
Everton have been utterly toothless in attack this season and currently sit one point above the relegation zone.
Fans felt Dyche had long overstayed his welcome and simply had to go. And seemingly, Dyche himself felt that way too in the end.
Moyes is in now, and Nevin believes TFG have made the right appointment.
He told the Liverpool Echo: “He knows the club, he knows a lot of the players and he knows the situation, so there’s no bedding in time needed and that’s good. Also, with his deep knowledge of lots of parts of English football, he could identify the type of potential signings who might be able to get them over the line.
“Let’s be honest, it wasn’t always pleasant to watch, I don’t hide that fact, Evertonians aren’t stupid, and a lot of them didn’t like it. But if you get someone in who wants to play Brazil-type football, you know you what, with this group, you’re going down, it can’t work.
“There are only one or two people I think could have replaced Sean in these circumstances but right at the top of that list is David Moyes. So well done to the new owners, they’ve chosen the right guy.”
Moyes a sensible appointment
With Dyche unable to continue, TFG had to make a decision and Moyes is a sensible appointment by the new owners.
There is a strong desire within the Everton fanbase for the team to play attacking, free-flowing football that is easy on the eye, after many months of watching ‘Dyche ball’.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 16 | 19 | 3 | 8 | 8 | 15 | 25 | -10 | 17 |
Moyes will not bring that kind of football. But right now it’s simply all about the club staying in the Premier League ahead of moving into the new stadium.
Moyes has experience of managing in this position and in theory, will keep Everton fairly solid while hopefully adding a bit more quality in the final third.
At his press conference, Moyes shared his hopes that he’ll get some new signings at Everton, and hopefully, in the coming weeks, things will be looking up.
