The Friedkin Group fuming as they refused to do one thing for Sean Dyche in exit talks at Everton

Everton are looking for a new manager, after sacking Sean Dyche.

Sean Dyche has now left the club amid huge pressure on him following an awful season so far that has seen Everton struggle to pick up points and score goals.

Everton sit just one point above the relegation zone at the moment, and fans have grown increasingly disgruntled as the weeks have gone by.

Dyche oversaw some respectable results this season, recently drawing with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.

But the lack of an attacking threat in most matches has been embarrassing, and many feel he could not continue. At the weekend, Bournemouth fans were mocking Everton, asking fans how they watched that brand of football every week.

There’s been some surprise about the timing of the announcement. But on the whole, most feel it’s for the good of the club.

And now, details are starting to emerge about Dyche’s sacking, with one very damaging claim being made.

The Times have run a very interesting piece about the days leading up to Dyche’s sacking this evening.

Dyche had taken his press conference earlier this week, and had suggested that TFG were supporting him. And he also took training today ahead of the game with Peterborough.

But seemingly, talks had been going on between Dyche and the new owners about his position – and those talks have culminated in him leaving.

According to The Times, Dyche was sacked after telling TFG that he felt he had taken Everton as far as he could.

It’s added that TFG felt as though Dyche had ‘given up’.

TFG are said to have felt they supported Dyche, amid major pressure on him from fans. And just days ago Dyche did say The Friedkin Group were supporting him. But they saw a change in his attitude over the last four games.

Over the last few days, there have been talks about compensation. TFG won’t pay out the remainder of his contract in full, but a settlement is said to have been reached.

Coaching staff Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard and Billy Mercer have also left the club.

Dyche knew his time was up

These are some really interesting claims about the last few days of Dyche’s tenure at Everton.

He had struck a defiant figure in press conferences and post-match interviews, if not slightly delusional. But fans got the impression he was ready to fight for his job.

But seemingly he has been worn down by all the talk behind the scenes, and subsequently told the new owners he was done.

Many fans will be relieved, but there will also now be anxiety over who TFG will appoint as his successor. It is simply a huge decision for the new owners, and there will be huge consequences if the wrong decision is made.

David Moyes and Paulo Fonseca are of interest to Everton, with the former having obviously already had one successful spell at Goodison Park.

Potentially, there would be something quite poetic about Moyes returning to the club and keeping Everton up ahead of the club starting a new chapter in the new stadium.
