Paul Merson has made his score prediction ahead of Everton’s trip to Wolves this weekend.

Everton will look to get back to winning ways after two difficult clashes with Tottenham Hotspur and Man City.

Despite putting on top performances against both teams, the Toffees picked up zero points and could well find themselves in the relegation zone going into the new year if they lose tomorrow.

Wolves have enjoyed some impressive form as of late, most recently thrashing Brentford 4-1 on their own soil. They have also beaten the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham in recent weeks, leaving them ten points clear of danger.

Everton have only claimed one point from Wolves in their past five meetings, but Paul Merson expects them to pick up another tomorrow. Speaking to sportskeeda, the 55-year-old predicted a 2-2 draw at Molineux Stadium.

He said: “Wolves have had a good Christmas so I think this should be an interesting game with a handful of goals. They have some good players and have done really well to cope in the absence of Pedro Neto, who I believe is their main man. If Matheus Cunha could score a few goals, I think he could play for any team in the world as his dribbling ability and link-up play is top-notch.

“Everton should have got a result against Tottenham and pushed Manchester City to their limits earlier this week, indicating that both sides are playing some decent football heading into this one. That said, Sean Dyche’s side are just a point adrift of the relegation zone and need to get a result here.”

Can Everton bounce back this weekend?

Everton recently picked up four wins on the bounce, including back-to-back victories over Newcastle United and Chelsea.

Recent fixtures have been tough, but a trip to Wolves will be far from easy.

Gary O’Neil seems to have transformed the Midlands outfit, and the likes of Hwang Hee-chan and Matheus Cunha have been simply outstanding.

The South Korean forward was forced off with an injury against Brentford though, so that would be a huge boost to the Toffees if they didn’t have to prevent him from netting his eleventh goal in 20 league games.

Sean Dyche‘s side really do need to win though, with Luton able to overtake them and plunge them into the bottom three if they beat Chelsea at home.

A win for the Hatters does seem unlikely, but the Blues’ inconsistent form means that Everton can’t rely on their ability against their relegation rivals.

Three points against Wolves could take them up to 14th place and that is what they need to be aiming for.
