Everton are looking to sign a new right-back this summer following the departure of Seamus Coleman.
Nathan Patterson has failed to convince David Moyes, and the Toffees are eager to find a standout option to play on the right of defence.
Kieran Trippier was a target for Everton – TEAMtalk believe talks even took place after Newcastle decided to release the England international – although he ultimately opted to step down into the Championship and join Wolves.
Now – however – the former Tottenham defender is already “angry” at Molineux after Wolves bizarrely decided to dismiss Rob Edwards and hire Cesar Peixoto.
If you were Angus Kinnear who would you be going all out for this summer? 💰
Kieran Trippier livid at Wolves just days after signing
A story from talkSPORT claims several players at Wolves – including Trippier – are currently furious after the shock dismissal of Edwards, who was only hired seven months ago.
It is said that Edwards was ‘instrumental’ in convincing Trippier to reject interest from the Premier League and move to the Midlands.
The same is said for Raul Jimenez – another player Everton were linked to.
Edwards even appeared in the video announcing the Mexico international’s return to Wolves – the decision has caused widespread unrest at Molineux, and may have Trippier feeling that he ought to have signed for Everton instead.
In an official statement, those in the boardroom at Molineux said they chose to sack the 43-year-old as they feel the move “gives Wolves the strongest opportunity to move forward from a sporting perspective” after relegation from the Premier League.
Considering Edwards managed to get Luton promoted to the Premier League in 2023 and also had Middlesbrough second in the Championship before moving to Wolves last season, many expected the Englishman to do quite well with the Old Gold next season.
Are there any players from the relegated clubs you want to see Everton go after this summer? 🤔
Wolves, Burnley and West Ham have all lost their Premier League status…
Therefore, the decision to bring in Peixoto – who has no experience of English football whatsoever – seems a very strange move indeed, and has understandably angered Trippier.
