Player likened to Jude Bellingham will now be allowed to leave his club after links with Everton move

This summer has already been a transformative one for Everton, but they are far from finished in the transfer market it seems.

After all, with a backline still untouched, and a winger high on the agenda, whatever money spent thus far is clearly not enough.

Since passing the June 30th PSR deadline, there has been far more freedom of spending across the Premier League, with deduction fears somewhat assuaged.

And whilst care is still needed, it seems like Everton are one of the clubs who are benefitting most from tactical spending in certain periods.

Everton handed huge transfer boost

It seems Kevin Thelwell is simply desperate to sign a winger this summer.

With a striker and midfielder secured on permanent deals, and Jack Harrison again welcomed back on loan, this is a squad already suitably bolstered.

But, with Everton’s interest in Yaser Asprilla still present, a rumour that refuses to go away, this latest report from The Athletic has handed the Toffees an ample boost.

It reads: ‘Watford are expecting interest in Yaser Asprilla as the Copa America draws to a close. The Colombia international — who is part of the squad who will play Uruguay in the semi-finals — is known to have admirers around the world. There is a growing acceptance at the Championship club that the attacking midfielder — Watford’s most saleable asset — is likely to be allowed to leave if the club’s valuation is met.

‘The 20-year-old has scored seven goals and provided 10 assists in 86 appearances since arriving from Envigado. While the club would want to build around Asprilla, it’s acknowledged that a pathway to a bigger club may be difficult to turn down for the player and will prove beneficial for the reputation of the club for future prospects.’

Given Asprilla was once compared to Jude Bellingham by Watford sporting director Gianluca Nani, for his deft touch and the ceiling he boasts, this is a deal that Thelwell must rush through.

Could Everton sign Yaser Asprilla and Jaden Philogene?

With the news having just broken that Everton now lead the race for Jaden Philogene, many might wonder whether Asprilla will now join as well.

After all, is there enough space in this team for two tricky, hard-working wide men who have shone in the Championship? I’m sure Sean Dyche could find some space.

Especially given Harrison is merely a loan acquisition, and will return to Leeds United at the end of this coming season.

The Toffees need more depth in these areas, and whilst they are enjoying such a spending spree, they may as well add as much as they can get.

These two wingers are young, and have their entire careers ahead of them.

And, with Yaser Asprilla’s £15m price tag unlikely to mark a stumbling block for Thelwell, he has no reason not to acquire them both.

To bring in this Colombian international and Philogene might mark the perfect culmination of years of struggles. Evertonians deserve this.
