Everton are facing competition from Rangers in the race for midfielder Shea Charles.

David Moyes and the higher ups at the club are yet to secure Idrissa Gana Gueye to another year on Merseyside.

Adding another midfielder is on Everton’s radar ahead of the summer, despite it being an area where the Blues are fairly well set.

Everton face Rangers battle for Shea Charles

Over recent months, Everton have been closely monitoring Charles as Southampton attempted to secure promotion to the Premier League.

For obvious reasons, Charles’ future on the South Coast has now become uncertain after the Saints were eliminated from the Play-Offs.

A report from Sportsboom has suggested Rangers manager Danny Rohl is very keen on bringing the 22-year-old up to Glasgow this summer.

Charles has previously worked under Rohl during their time together with Sheffield Wednesday, which may provide Rangers a slight advantage.

Naturally, Everton will hope the prospect of playing Premier League football would be a real draw to the midfielder over playing in Scotland, respectively.

Southampton are in no rush to sell Charles, but it is clear the 22-year-old is going to be attracting a lot of interest following an impressive 2025/26 campaign.

It is also claimed that Charles is open to the prospect of playing under Rohl again.

Moyes has failed to utilise his Everton youngsters this season, with Tyler Dibling a clear case study to potentially push Charles away from moving to Merseyside.

Moyes has brought the buzz word, stability, back to Everton, but there may be a hidden cost this summer if the Blues struggle to attract young prospects due to the Scot’s stubborness.
