Vitalii Mykolenko’s future at Everton is yet to be confirmed by the club ahead of next season.

Everton’s Vitalii Mykolenko admits he wants to return to Ukraine

Fabrizio Romano claimed Mykolenko will sign a new deal at Everton over the coming weeks to seal his future on Merseyside.

However, the 26-year-old already has one eye on returning to his homeland in the coming years.

Speaking to Ukrainian outlet Vzbirna, Mykolenko shared his desire to one day play for either Dynamo Kyiv or LSN Cherkasy.

“I would like to return to my native Dynamo, but if Dynamo does not want me then I will be very happy and play for LNZ [Cherkasy],” he said.

Everton are in the market for another full-back this summer, with competition for Mykolenko needed amid Adam Aznou’s struggles.

The Ukraine international has not competed with any other player for his position on Merseyside this season.

There is an expectation that Aznou will be sent out on loan by Everton over the summer in order for him to pick up more experience.

Mykolenko started 33 times for Everton in the Premier League, which is a big plus for a side that has struggled with injury issues over recent years.

However, it is time for the left-back to compete for his spot in the starting XI.
