Everton have experienced a lot of competition from other Premier League clubs in the early stages of the transfer window.

Chelsea beat Everton to Liam Delap, which certainly will have been a blow to the plans on Merseyside earlier this month.

But a long window lies ahead for Everton, with Angus Kinnear prepared for a long couple of months after joining from Leeds United.

David Moyes is still waiting for the first new face at Everton to land as the Toffees wait for the new PSR window at the turn of the month.

Like many other clubs, Everton are focusing on a new striker signing this summer to really bolster their quality in front of goal.

That is proving a difficult mission for the Toffees, with some of Europe’s biggest clubs now providing competition for the signature of their targets.

Everton face Real Madrid competition for Nick Woltemade

With a new striker on the radar, Everton have shown an interest in Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart.

He is a player who is in high demand this summer, with Chelsea also keen to sign Woltemade despite already signing Delap.

And according to Marca, the Germany U21 star is now attracting interest from Real Madrid.

Woltemade is impressing at the U21 Euros this summer as he has helped to guide Germany to the final where they will face England.

As well as an impressive U21 Euros, Woltemade has been hailed as ‘absolutely brilliant’ during the 2024/25 Bundesliga campaign.

Madrid are not the only European giant on the scene, with Bayern Munich also keen to sign Woltemade and admitting their interest publicly.

A huge battle for the German’s signature is beginning to develop with the striker quickly becoming one of Europe’s hottest prospects.

David Moyes wants two striker signings

Everton are losing Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja at the end of the month, which will halve the number of strikers in the squad.

With the options set to dwindle, Moyes is keen to sign two strikers for Everton this summer.

Everton are closing in on signing Thierno Barry with talks between the Blues and Villarreal advancing at a good pace.

But the 2024/25 campaign showed just how much Everton need strength in depth at the top end of the pitch, with injuries and form issues causing the Toffees some real headaches.
