Wilfried Gnonto is ‘not completely sold’ on the idea of a move to Everton.

The Italian may reject the chance to return to the Premier League with the Toffees and could now instead stay at Leeds United this summer, according to talkSPORT.

Gnonto quickly attracted interest from a number of clubs across Europe following his stellar debut campaign in which he scored twice and bagged two assists, receiving praise from all angles as former caretaker manager Michael Skubala labelled him ‘special’.

The forward was one of the Whites’ few positives as they were relegated to the Championship and they looked set to lose their star man, with Everton hot on their heels for his signature.

Despite Sean Dyche’s side pressing for Gnonto’s arrival, the 19-year-old could now remain at Elland Road but he could still leave if he receives a lucrative offer elsewhere.

Everton remain in talks with Leeds United, however they have started drawing up a list of potential alternatives to the teenager. Meanwhile, the likes of AC Milan and Fiorentina could still continue their pursuit of the Italy international.

Wilfried Gnonto would rather stay in the Championship with Leeds United than join Everton

There have been a number of rumours regarding Wilfried Gnonto’s future and at one point he looked very close to joining Everton. However, it will come as a huge disappointment that he could now choose to remain at Elland Road.

Leeds United aren’t guaranteed to win promotion straight back to the Premier League, though Gnonto’s strong relationship with the fans and the club may have persuaded him to give them another shot – while he is definitely guaranteed first team football this season.

Gnonto joins Anthony Elanga and El Bilal Toure in rejecting the Toffees, while the Merseyside outfit will have to act fast if they are to lure in another attacker before the new campaign begins.
