Everton are exploring the possibility of signing Luis Sinisterra today.

That’s according to the Daily Express, who have reported that the Toffees see the ‘quality’ Colombian as an option of they fail to land Wilfried Gnonto.

Everton have been linked with both players this summer, however they looked very close to signing Gnonto at one point.

The Italian refused to play for Leeds United at the start of the campaign, before handing in a written transfer request as he looked to force through a move to Merseyside.

However, Everton opted against going on for a further bid for Gnonto and it appeared that they had ended their pursuit in the teenager before today.

Reports have now claimed that the Toffees are in talks with Leeds over a deadline day deal for Gnonto, with the 19-year-old still eager to earn a move back to the Premier League.

With around 10 hours left of the transfer window, it would be very surprising if the Whites were willing to part ways with Gnonto given how difficult it would be to find a replacement.

Could Everton sign Sinisterra instead of Gnonto?

Everton have already considered a back-up option and could still look to Elland Road to bolster their attack, with the club reportedly eyeing a deal for Sinisterra if they fail to bring in Gnonto.

Sinisterra scored five goals in the Premier League last season and has also tried to push for a move away this summer, while he was also left out of the Leeds’ squad prior to the clash at Ipswich Town.

Football Transfers reported yesterday that Crystal Palace were also interested in signing the 24-year-old, while reports have claimed he is valued at around £22 million.

He could be a cheaper option than Gnonto, though Leeds United certainly won’t want to lose him so late on either.
