Bologna have joined the race to sign Everton midfielder Tom Davies this summer.

The Italian outfit join AS Monza, Rangers and clubs in France in their pursuit of Davies, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Everton confirmed that Davies had turned down a new contract at Goodison Park and will become a free agent at the end of the month.

Davies joined Everton’s academy in 2009 and went onto make his Premier League debut seven years later.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a promising start to his career but is now seeking regular first team football elsewhere after only making five starts in all competitions last season.

Davies was once seen as a very exciting young player for the Toffees and was labelled ‘top class’ by BBC Sport’s Phil McNulty in 2021, however he has failed to live up to expectations since.

Davies is now being targeted by a number of clubs ahead of a free transfer, though it looks increasingly likely that he could leave England for his next adventure.

Tom Davies can kickstart his career after choosing to leave Everton

Tom Davies’ career had come to a halt in recent seasons, despite encouraging early signs following his debut in 2016.

The midfielder has made the sensible decision to leave his boyhood club and a move abroad could prove to be an even better one.

While Rangers could be the perfect destination for the 24-year-old, a move to Italy or France has also proven successful for other English players.

The likes of Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori moved to Serie A in search of regular game time, while Folarin Balogun enjoyed an excellent loan spell with Rennes last season.

Davies will be eager to prove himself wherever he ends up and Everton fans will be hopeful that all goes well for him after his 14 year stint on Merseyside was brought to an end.
