Everton continue to be linked with a move for Richarlison.
The Brazil international remains a firm fan favourite at Everton despite leaving for Tottenham in 2022 – having scored 53 goals and provided 15 assists in 152 appearances for the Toffees.
Richarlison plans to leave Spurs after the World Cup this summer – according to ESPN Brasil – with Everton said to be interested in bringing the South American back to Merseyside.
Tottenham do have a decision to make as the 28-year-old approaches the final year of his contract, and he may now be even more keen to leave after voicing his unhappiness at a change within Hotspur Way.
Everton target Richarlison left upset as UEFA Europa League final photo removed
Brennan Johnson – who Everton wanted – recently left Spurs for Crystal Palace, just months on from scoring the winner against Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final.
How much of an upgrade would Richarlison be over Barry and Beto? 🤩
Get this man back to Merseyside!
A poster was put up at Hotspur Way showing the Wales international and Richarlison celebrating that historic moment.
However, with Johnson now gone, Tottenham have opted to remove the photo from the corridor of their training ground, leaving Richarlison annoyed.
Speaking on his Instagram story, the Everton target said: “Where’s the picture of Johnson and me here, man? That sucks. They removed me and Johnson from here, that sucks. Where are we, Johnson? They removed us, man.”
With Richarlison already reportedly keen to leave Spurs, this controversial change presumably won’t convince him to change his mind.
Everton must not get sucked in to sanctioning emotional Richarlison return
As capable as Richarlison is when free from injuries, Everton need to avoid bringing him back.
Richarlison wants to play at the Hill Dickinson Stadium
In the last four years, the Brazilian has suffered badly with his fitness, even missing 45 games for club and country last season.
| Season | Days | Injuries | Games missed |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2024/25 | 188 days | 4 | 45 |
| 2023/24 | 128 days | 4 | 18 |
| 2022/23 | 61 days | 2 | 11 |
| 2021/22 | 72 days | 2 | 13 |
| 2020/21 | 17 days | 2 | 2 |
| 2019/20 | 19 days | 1 | 2 |
| 2018/19 | 51 days | 5 | 3 |
From a financial viewpoint, Richarlison also earns £90,000-a-week, and we would expect Spurs to aim to recoup as much of the £60m they handed Everton for his signature in July 2022 regardless of his contract situation.
Therefore, Everton may end up spending a fortune just to bring Richarlison back to play a handful of games next season, a situation The Friedkin Group cannot allow to happen.
