Everton have four players at the World Cup in America this summer.

Nathan Patterson is one of the four Everton stars at the tournament, and he was in action in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Patterson made a late cameo appearance in Scotland’s 1-0 win against Haiti in Boston, coming on for Aaron Hickey in the 75th minute.

Which Everton player are you expecting to have the best World Cup? 🏆

That said, here is how the Scottish media reacted to the 24-year-old’s display.

Patterson is evidently Scotland’s second-choice right-back, although manager Steve Clarke clearly feels he can rely on the Everton star to see out games.

The former Rangers full-back helped his nation keep a clean sheet and pick up their first World Cup win in 36 years.

Here’s what TNT Sports had to say about Patterson’s performance.

6/10 – “Took over on 75 minutes from Hickey and produced a solid showing to help Scotland scramble over the line, with one block in the closing moments. Perhaps vital to Scotland’s future health in this tournament.”

The Scotsman added.

5/10 – “Manned the right flank well as Scotland held on for the win.”

Daily Record noted.

3/10 – “Not easy being pitched in with the pressure on but found his feet.”

The National Scot said.

3/10 – “Big block shortly after coming on.”

Moyes would’ve been watching last night and will surely have been pleased to see his fringe player playing a big role in the huge victory.

Perhaps the Everton boss may change his stance on Patterson if he has a good tournament in America.

He will certainly grow and develop into a better player if he comes through the high-stakes moments, which are sure to come as Scotland currently sit top of their group.
