Everton have made a string of really intelligent and quick-fire transfer moves this summer, and Sean Dyche’s squad is all the better for it.
Having had to make a £50m sacrifice by selling Amadou Onana to Aston Villa, this departure is set to fund all their business for the rest of the window, with Iliman Ndiaye, Jack Harrison, Tim Iroegbunam and Jesper Lindstrom already tied up.
And now, with Jake O’Brien set to join Everton as well, it seems that all areas of the pitch are suitably strengthened.
However, whether it be good or bad news, they are far from finished.
Everton still want to sign Armando Broja
The next target that seems to be on Kevin Thelwell’s list is a striker, which might surprise Evertonians given they are already inundated in that position.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Youssef Chermiti and Beto have battled for a year for the role, with the former largely coming out on top, yet now his future on Merseyside does seem in doubt.

That could therefore explain Everton’s interest in Armando Broja, with a £30m price tag being discussed.
Whilst this is not outside of the Toffees’ range, with funds certainly there to be spent, whether it is a smart decision remains to be seen.
However, when comparing him to Calvert-Lewin, who is still stalling over his contract, it makes little sense.
Everton should offer Dominic Calvert-Lewin a new contract
Although the Albania international is five years his junior, he is light years behind him regarding his general hold-up play.
After all, Sean Dyche’s philosophy is built around a focal point marksman, willing to do the hard yards running and winning headers to bring the team into play.
When compared to other strikers across Europe, Calvert-Lewin actually ranks in the top 6% for aerials won per 90.
And to compare their goalscoring figures, Broja hardly comes close either.
His best season in front of goal came whilst on loan in the Eredivisie, scoring just ten league goals, whereas the Englishman has twice hit double figures in the Premier League despite huge injury struggles.

Having overcome his fitness woes now though, and hit a nice vein of goalscoring form as the campaign ended, this seems like the perfect time to reinvest in a new deal for the 27-year-old.
Especially if the alternative is to spend that £30m on Broja, who is inferior to Calvert-Lewin both in front of goal and in the air.
