Sean Dyche has been giving his fresh verdict on Everton’s point deduction earlier this season ahead of his return to Turf Moor.

Everton were hit with an unprecedented points deduction earlier this season which at the time seemed like a massive blow to The Toffees.

That concern was short lived though, with Sean Dyche managing to put together a seriously impressive run of form, making short work of their relegation battle.

This means Everton are now looking like they’ll comfortably avoid being dragged back into a bottom of the league fight, which has seen Dyche heavily praised.

Instead, Everton could find themselves battling the likes of Chelsea in mid table by the time this year draws to a close. Especially considering there are winnable games between now and New Year.

Dyche now faces the prospect of returning to his former stomping ground where he forged his managerial name, something he isn’t dedicating much thought to.

Dyche said: “When the whistle blows, I want to win”, When asked what he was feeling about his return.

Before continuing that he feels a bond building with the Everton fans and said: “I am willing to earn it [their respect], I am willing to put the hard yards in.”

Ahead of the game, he’s shared his views on the points deduction.

Sean Dyche press conference – on points deduction

Dyche was speaking in his pre-game press conference on Thursday in which he was quizzed over Everton’s recent form and his thoughts on appealing the deduction.

Dyche firstly rebutted suggestions that recent form of Everton has been sparked by the points deduction.

“The team was playing well before that. We look like a competitive team but the work was already getting done.”

Continuing, Dyche gave an update on the possibility of Everton appealing their deduction.

He said: “We’ve got to act as if it’s a done deal now. Anything that comes our way will be a bonus.”

Sean Dyche makes point deduction a worry of the past

While it is annoying that the deduction occurred as without it, Everton would be flying high and seven points off fifth.

But the praise for Dyche is all justified as he turned what was a worrying deduction into an afterthought.

This recent form could see the deduction forgotten about come the end of the season.
