Sean Dyche now slammed for ‘stubborn’ mistake which cost Everton in Wolves defeat

Sean Dyche’s Everton have slipped into a horrid run of form lately with four consecutive defeats, now he’s been critiqued.

Over the past weekend, Everton made it four losses in a row in catastrophic fashion as Wolves completely tore the Toffees apart.

Sean Dyche was helpless to avoid the 3-0 thrashing which Wolves inflicted on Everton, and even that scoreline is generous with Gary O’Neil’s side having countless chances.

This result followed three other defeats over the festive period which in a way has tainted the run Dyche went on prior to this – defeats to Spurs and Manchester City in the league and Fulham in the League Cup.

Now, after the Wolves defeat, the mood around Everton has shifted with Dyche now on the receiving end of criticism.

Sean Dyche slammed for mistake

Writing for the Liverpool Echo in his column, Michael Ball called out a ‘stubborn’ Dyche for his reluctance to make the necessary adjustments against Wolves.

“Wolves were on top of us and you were thinking ‘he needs to change this’ and didn’t.”

Ball then continued to explain that Dyche had the opportunity to do so and just didn’t.

“He then had the opportunity to at half-time and refused to do so. Even though Wolves were all over us, in Dyche’s mind he may have thought ‘we’re still in this’.”

He then turned his attention to Dyche labelling him as stubborn, insisting that it’s a big weakness for Everton.

“We know Dyche is quite stubborn, and that’s fine as managers often are, but you have to get results when things aren’t going your way.”

Dyche needs another strong run of form for Everton

Everton find themselves in a vastly different position then they did just a few weeks ago. The high flying feeling around the club is gone and now Dyche must regroup and find some form as Everton are drawn closer to a relegation battle.

Zero points over Christmas has seen The Toffees pulled back towards a relegation fight. Luton Town have a game in hand on the Toffees and find themselves just a point adrift.

Everton therefore need to put together a string of form like they had earlier in December with wins over Newcastle, Burnley, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest.
