Sean Dyche has provided an update on Arnaut Danjuma after a difficult start to life at Everton.
Everton had been eager to bring Arnaut Danjuma in on loan for a long time before he arrived in the summer, having initially failed to bring him in in the January transfer window.
Despite an underwhelming spell with Tottenham Hotspur, the Toffees remained interested and eventually signed him on a season-long loan from Villarreal.
Danjuma impressed at the start of his time on Merseyside, and was seen as a ‘spark’ during a very tough few games for Everton.
However, as the Toffees improved, Danjuma’s chances in the first team declined. The Dutchman has only played 27 minutes of league football since September, while he has been an unused substitute in eight of the last ten games in the Premier League.
Reports in Spain have now claimed that Villarreal could look to recall Danjuma due to his lack of minutes, but Sean Dyche has now played down the rumours, claiming he has been training well and will have to ‘wait his turn’.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference, Dyche said: He continues to train well, he continues to be part of the group, we want him to do so, he came on the other night and I thought he delivered. He has to wait his turn – I think the main wide players, in the sense of Dwight and Jack, have been very good. The balance of the side looks right so you have to keep working hard and waiting for your opportunities to come.”
Will Arnaut Danjuma stay at Everton next month?
Arnaut Danjuma received a lot of praise in the early stages of the campaign, in fact he was one of only few that showed positive signs. But the current form of the rest of the squad has left him out in the cold.
Sean Dyche clearly isn’t keen on the 26-year-old, but Everton’s lack of squad depth means that he is really handy to have around the squad. Injury to Dwight McNeil or Jack Harrison would leave the manager very short on options.
Though that doesn’t really benefit Danjuma or Villarreal. He will be returning to Spain in the summer either why, so why would he be happy to sit on the bench for the next five months?
It wouldn’t be surprising to see Danjuma recalled in January, though perhaps Everton could look to bring in someone else on loan as a replacement.
