Everton’s start to the season has been abysmal, but not too dissimilar to last campaign’s though.
After all, despite having lost their opening three matches, they performed admirably in the bulk of them and arguably deserved something from the first and third.
The latter in particular is what has caused this almighty meltdown heading into the international break, surrendering a two-goal lead in the 87th minute against AFC Bournemouth to lose 3-2.
A nine-minute collapse, the bulk of the blame has since fallen on Sean Dyche‘s lap.
Simon Jordan issues Sean Dyche sack verdict
Speaking on talkSPORT just yesterday, naturally, the subject of Everton had to crop up.
And whilst this has been a club that has drawn scrutiny for its financial misdeeds in recent years, with Simon Jordan particularly cutting in his analysis of Farhad Moshiri, on this occasion it was their on-pitch antics which he criticised.

In fact, discussing rumours that were suggesting that Sean Dyche could be sacked from Everton, the former Crystal Palace chairman responded: ‘I don’t know why there would be any doubts.
‘They don’t have any money, they have got a squad of players that I don’t think are good enough to be anywhere near the higher end of the league, so the expectation should be massively tempered.
‘This is the club that’s trying to stay in the division right now while it overcomes its problems. Its problems are the ownership model and it needs to change, move to a new stadium. Cannot be in a new stadium if you can possibly help it when you are in the Championship. That would probably be a PR disaster on every level.
‘So Sean Dyche being in that situation where a) he came in January of 2023 and unpicked the mess that was made of it by Frank, b) he kept them in the division at a canter last year irrespective of having a backdrop because he’s not interested in excuses. He’s not interested in the fact that the boardroom’s having a fight. He can only deal with what he can control.’
Everton couldn’t sack Sean Dyche even if they wanted to
Although the former Burnley man has endured a torrid start to the Premier League season, dismissing him after just three games would mark a ludicrous decision from the hierarchy.
After all, after five games last campaign they had amassed just a sole point, also losing their first three games, snatching a draw away to Sheffield United before eventually travelling to Brentford and pulling out a shock win.
Then, even with an accumulated eight-point deduction, they finished 14 points clear of the bottom three.
There’s every reason to assume the same will occur throughout this term, with a far better squad than the one they had last season as well.

What’s most ironic is that, with Moshiri having gone awol, and thus there being no money available, there is nobody there to sack Dyche, and no money to pay him off or secure his replacement.
With a contract that expires next summer, fans will have to get used to at least one more campaign of his football.
