Everton supporters are starting to grow a little concerned about the club’s lack of activity in the transfer market – but there is reason for optimism.
The Toffees need a big summer this time around, after the club had a really poor finish to the 2025/26 season.
Seven games without a win to finish off the last campaign was hugely disappointing, after Everton had got themselves into a great position.

Fans have wanted to see a reaction and couple of weeks ago, the club pulled off three deals within days of each other.
Hayden Hackney signed from Middlesbrough and then the club announced that Tyrique George and Merlin Rohl had been signed permanently.
Since those deals were announced on July 6, there has been radio silence – but there is reason not to panic just yet for Everton fans.
How Everton operated in the summer of 2018 is reason not to panic
Everton have actually been busier up to this point than they were in the summer of 2018.
That was the last time there was a World Cup going on in the summer, with the 2022 tournament taking place in the winter that year and therefore not being a distraction.
But Everton actually didn’t sign a single player before that tournament commenced on June 14.
All the club’s incomings happened once the tournament was over, and a total of seven players made moves to Goodison Park.
They were:
- Richarlison from Watford (July 24)
- Lucas Digne from Barcelona (August 1)
- Joao Virginia from Arsenal (August 3)
- Bernard from Shakhtar Donetsk (August 9, deadline day)
- Yerry Mina from Barcelona (August 9, deadline day)
- Andre Gomes from Barcelona (August 9, deadline day)
- Kurt Zouma from Chelsea (August 9, deadline day)
Now, of course, it would be far better if Everton had players in early, so that they can participate in as much of the club’s pre-season programme as possible.
But the deals that were done in 2018 do just serve as a reminder that the club are capable of getting busy in a World Cup summer.
And interestingly, Everton went on to have a solid season, finishing eighth in the Premier League under Marco Silva in 2018/19.
So it is not a time for panic just yet, as Everton continue to scour the market and hold talks with players and agents.
Three deals have already been done, which is three more up to this point.
If the previous regime could pull themselves together and negotiate seven new signings after the 2018 World Cup, then surely The Friedkin Group and the current Everton recruitment team can too.
And this window is actually open until later than the one in 2018. It doesn’t close until September 1, still giving Everton over a month to get new faces through the door.
It has to be said though, a new right-back needs bringing in as quickly as possible, given how pressing that position is, with the new signing ideally needing as much of a pre-season as possible.
