It’s official: Everton have signed Tyrique George on a permanent deal from Chelsea.
Everton had ramped up their efforts to sign George last week, which was welcomed by a lot of Evertonians, who had also been left pleased by the Hayden Hackney deal.
Then an agreement was reached a few days ago, worth around £24 million in total.
And just this evening, Everton have now officially announced George as one of their own.
The player has already done an interview as part of the announcement – and there is one comment in particular that stands out.
The ominous Tyrique George comment after signing for Everton
George will now look to kick on after his loan spell.
He arguably did not play as much as he would have liked after coming in from Chelsea last season, and many felt David Moyes should have handed him far more minutes.
How excited are you by Everton’s signing of Tyrique George on a permanent deal? Can he really kick on now after his loan?
The deal is now official, with the Toffees paying an initial £18m, with £6m to come in potential add-ons… ✅
But thankfully, there was a big enough sample size for Everton to buy him.
The hope now is that he establishes himself quickly, and manages to start games fairly regularly.
And there is one comment he has made to suggest he’s determined to do just that.
He said (via Everton official): “Everton is an environment that demands hard work from everyone, and I will give everything.
“To be in for the start of pre-season is something I was keen on. Now I’m really excited to get going again.”
That George himself was keen to wrap this deal up before Everton commenced pre-season training should be music to fans’ ears.
It is clear from this interview that he did not want to look elsewhere, with the club obviously making a real impression on him during his loan.

He is obviously determined to give himself the best possible chance of being named as a starter in that very first game against Crystal Palace on August 22.
What will be interesting is if Everton reach that game without having signed Jack Grealish, which is something the club are reportedly keen to do.
If he doesn’t join, then George will certainly fancy his chances of starting against Palace, with Dwight McNeil expected to leave the club.
