The Everton headlines have unsurprisingly been dominated by John Textor this morning, once again, but this time with good reason.
As the man desperate to take over the club, a post that many others have snubbed, his motivations behind this move remain clouded.
Naturally, he has said all the right things and seems, on the surface, to be very well-media-trained.
This was no better exemplified than through last night’s interview, where he spoke with eloquence and passion to inform the masses about his progress on the deal.
Unsurprisingly, The Esk was not quite sold.
The Esk argues John Textor’s takeover claim
As someone who once claimed that the American was not one of the interested parties, it’s understandable why there might be an element of frustration to watch Textor be so forthright and upfront about his ambitions.
After all, he has made far more progress than most suitors before him, and been far more vocal throughout as well.
Clearly someone who seeks to keep the fans in the loop, he will not be everyone’s cup of tea, but few can fault his transparency.
Alas, Paul Quinn, a finance guru and writer better known as The Esk on X, has poked one huge hole in Textor’s comments regarding both Crystal Palace and Everton.
He would write: ‘Some fascinating stuff being circulated tonight. How can one individual be the majority holder of two holding companies who seperately have significant holdings in two different Premier League clubs? That is not possible under Premier League rules.’
John Textor is closing in on selling his Crystal Palace shares
Although it might have been easy to spot, there were actually two different interviews circling around last night.
One, conducted by Sky Sports, John Textor revealed how close he was to buying Everton. However, there was also no mention of the finer details, chiefly how the American plans to circumvent his Crystal Palace shares.

However, in the other interview, he does share an update on this matter, stating that he has numerous buyers just waiting to take his stake from him, thus freeing him up to buy Everton.
It does seem promising after a few weeks of silence on this front, that not only is Textor progressing in his plans, but also he has a strategy for how to fix the club should he get in charge.
