Everton fans are clamouring to see some new faces – but one target appears to have gone begging.

After finishing the 2025/26 season with a seven-game winless run, supporters want to see a productive summer.

The transfer window is now open for Everton to do business. But so far, it has been very quiet.

The main story has been Hayden Hackney, who reportedly wants to come to Everton, but the Toffees are currently unwilling to near Middlesbrough’s asking price.

But there have also been a few other players linked.

And one man who’s been on the club’s radar for most of this year is Harry Wilson – but a big update today suggests he will not be heading to Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Harry Wilson set to join Leeds in poor look for The Friedkin Group

It has long been known that Harry Wilson was out of contract at Fulham this summer.

The Cottagers have wanted to get him tied down to a new deal, but they’ve been unsuccessful with that and the departure of Marco Silva may well have killed off any faint hopes of him extending.

Today, it’s been reported by David Ornstein among others that Wilson has reached an agreement with Leeds United to sign a four-year contract, subject to passing a medical.

And quite simply, this is not a good look for Everton, who look to be needing wingers with question marks over the futures of Tyrique George, Jack Grealish and Dwight McNeil.

Everton are a bigger club than Leeds.

It is a club that is steeped in history and one that has one of the most passionate fanbases in the land, and a world-class stadium.

Neither club has been able to offer European football.

So it seems that Leeds have been able to match the demands of the player, whereas Everton have not. The Toffees would surely have been able to match Leeds from a financial perspective.

It’s not actually clear if Everton have come anywhere close to signing Wilson.

But The Friedkin Group should have been in for him, and the fact it’s Leeds who will be signing him makes this quite frustrating. Because it’s not like he’s gone to a club in a European competition.

We’ll now see how this move turns out, but given how good he was in 2025/26, there’s every chance Leeds have pulled off a top signing at the expense of Everton.

He can provide a lot of output in the final third, and that is something that Everton really need right now.

And not only that, but Wilson has regularly shown throughout his career that he has the eye for the spectacular.

To have a player who can create magic out of nothing really can be invaluable, and it’s a great shame Everton won’t be landing him.
