Defeat for the Toffees could also inspire them to make a change, with Sean Dyche under pressure from Everton fans and the board to deliver results.

The Blues are 15th in the Premier League table, two points clear of the relegation zone.

For the first time this season it looks as if Armando Broja could be included in an Everton squad.

Broja played 45 minutes for Everton’s Under-21s side against Watford as he looks to build up his match fitness.

Alan Myers reported that Broja could even be on the bench for the game in a much-needed boost for the Albania striker.

Like Broja, Nathan Patterson also got some minutes in the legs for the Under-21s, despite being sent off.

The young right-back has been on the bench this season but yet to make an appearance. Ashley Young is still likely to start ahead of him, but knowing he may be able to play some part is still welcome news for Dyche.

Youssef Chermiti – doubt

Youssef Chermiti returned to Everton training recently but is still some way off being ready for minutes on the pitch.

Chermiti was out with a foot problem, but with Dominic Calvert-Lewin struggling this season, it’s another option.

James Garner – out

James Garner is still out with a back issue that’s been causing him trouble for the past few weeks and will miss the game against his boyhood club.

He won’t be back until next month at the earliest.
