The Premier League table since David Moyes rejoined Everton, it’s pretty remarkable

When David Moyes returned to Everton in January, the club were staring down the barrel of a potential relegation.

Everton were in big trouble under Sean Dyche at the start of the year and so the Friedkin Group decided to bring David Moyes back for a second spell.

That turned out to be an inspired decision, as Moyes managed to steer the Toffees well clear of the relegation zone.

In fact, Everton actually finished 23 points clear of the drop zone, so heading into this season, there was real belief of a top 10 finish.

After a few disappointing results to Liverpool and Wolves, Moyes has come under some criticism, but it’s important to put into perspective what a fantastic job he’s done so far.

That said, here’s how the Premier League table looks since he rejoined Everton.

After Everton’s 2-0 defeat to Wolves on Tuesday, which followed a 2-1 loss to Liverpool, Moyes came under fire.

Of course, he’s not immune to criticism, but it’s important to recognise that he’s done a terrific job in his first nine months in charge and has a lot of credit in the bank.

Since January 11th, the date Moyes replaced Sean Dyche, Everton are actually sixth in the Premier League table, above the likes of Newcastle and Aston Villa.

The Toffees would only be a win off the Champions League spots, so that proves just how well the Scotsman has done.

Everton can bounce back vs West Ham United

Everton have a good chance to end their two-game losing streak on Monday, as they play host to struggling West Ham United.

The Hammers have lost four out of their first five Premier League games, so the Toffees will be expected to win.

Moyes’ men then face Crystal Palace, which is also at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, so they’ll be eyeing back-to-back wins.

A trip to Manchester City follows that, which will of course be a much trickier game on paper.
