Everton are scrambling to find a solution to Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s unrelenting transfer saga, with deadline day ramping up the pressure on Kevin Thelwell.

After all, this has been a narrative quietly bubbling away in the background, with most fans happy to confess blissful ignorance to the situation.

However, with just hours left of the window, the club now have a really important decision to make.

They can either ship him off now and leave little time for a replacement, but in turn, get some money immediately.

Or, they could keep him, pray he signs a new deal, and risk losing him for nothing next summer.

Either way, they need to lock in their choice now and throw themselves into it.

Everton locked in talks with Chelsea over multiple transfers

The future of Dominic Calvert-Lewin remains extremely cloudy, with some reports arguing he is on his way out, and others suggesting he will stay at the club.

Well, speaking exclusively to Everton.News, transfer journalist Graeme Bailey provided a much-needed update on the matter whilst also revealing an unexpected benefit that has come from the dialogue with Chelsea.

Whilst talks started over the availability of the 27-year-old, they have quickly turned to who the Toffees could take off their hands, with the West London outfit inundated with talent that simply has no place at Stamford Bridge.

Bailey names two Chelsea stars in his brief but hugely important update: ‘Everton are speaking to Chelsea about David Datro Fofana and Armando Broja – both possible. This occurred during talks about the future of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is not going now it seems.’

Everton should be raiding Chelsea for players

With one of the most bloated squads in footballing history, it’s a wonder why more teams aren’t flocking to snag some of Chelsea’s talented outcasts on loan for a cut price.

And while Broja and Fofana represent fine options, there are arguably plenty more players that they could be pushing for to solve their own issues.

Raheem Sterling is obviously the outstanding example of an elite player who has no place in Enzo Maresca’s squad, and whilst he will have visions of playing for a much better side, if he is to rot in the reserves, why not offer him some guaranteed game time at Goodison Park?

Trevoh Chalobah is another in a similar position, and had they not already signed Jake O’Brien, this would have represented a fantastic capture for the Toffees.

Everton need more backup at left-back, and some attacking competition for Vitaliy Mykolenko in Ben Chilwell would be welcomed. However, his fitness record sparks concern.

Another who would certainly improve Sean Dyche‘s squad is Carney Chukwuemeka, as a powerful, progressive midfielder who would surely add some attacking impetus to their engine room too.

Before deadline day is over, it would be nice to see the Toffees try for a few more of these star-studded outcasts.
