The warning Frank Lampard once gave Anthony Gordon at Everton as he makes major error at Newcastle

Anthony Gordon endured a successful time at Everton, but recent revelations haven’t helped the Newcastle United winger.

Gordon was branded as the boyhood Everton fan who had achieved his dream of playing for the Toffees.

But a £45 million move to Newcastle lost that respect between the Englishman and the fans.

To make matters worse, Gordon predicted Liverpool would win the Premier League, and as any Evertonians know, that is a big red flag.

It’s sad to see your fans turn against you, but by making the jump so early on, it always comes with that risk.

Well, now the Toon Army might be turning against the 24-year-old after what he did in the FA Cup, which has come with serious repercussions.

Former Everton player Anthony Gordon makes a major error

It’s a difficult scenario to lose the fans from your boyhood club, but Gordon pushed for an Everton exit, so it certainly didn’t help matters.

The winger has flourished with the Magpies, but he’s yet to achieve what he set out to do when joining. Win a trophy.

Unfortunately for Gordon, he’s handed himself and the club a real blow in doing that when they meet Arne Slot’s men in just under two weeks.

Gordon stupidly lashed out on Brighton’s Jan Paul van Hecke in what was a heated affair between Newcastle and the Seagulls, as the winger got sent off, with Newcastle losing.

This ultimately means that Gordon will not play at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final.

The warning Frank Lampard gave Gordon at Everton

It does seem that the 24-year-old has a slight temper when it comes to playing.

He certainly wasn’t happy when Newcastle met Everton earlier this season, as Gordon missed a penalty against Everton, which saw him get mocked throughout the visit.

But what he did on Sunday afternoon was undefendable, as it was a silly mistake from Gordon.

Well, former Everton boss Frank Lampard knows all too well about Gordon’s disciplinary issues, as the winger picked up 12 yellow cards in his time at Goodison Park.

Lampard warned him of this issue back in 2022 as he conversed with him, but Gordon clearly didn’t listen.

“Yeah, it’s something to analyse, and I’ve had those conversations with Anthony,” Lampard said ahead of a visit to Tottenham, for which Gordon was suspended.

When asked about what the issue stemmed from, Lampard said. “I think that’s a conversation for me to have with Anthony.”

Lampard’s words seemingly didn’t mean anything, and Gordon will no doubt want to rewind the last 24 hours.
