Everton moved back into the top half of the Premier League table at the weekend after securing a 1-0 win against Aston Villa.

David Moyes’ side produced the perfect away performance at Villa Park, with James Garner perhaps the standout performer.

What a win! Everton fans, who was your Man of the Match against Aston Villa?

So many great performances 🔥

Alan Shearer was blown away by Garner’s performance and Moyes suggested in his post-match interview that he should be called up to the England squad.

It was also a brilliant afternoon for Thierno Barry, who scored the winning goal with a quite sublime chip over Emiliano Martinez.

Barry spoke to Everton’s website after the game and had a message for the supporters.

Thierno Barry buzzing that Everton fans are chanting his name

When Barry came off for Beto in the 84th minute, Everton fans in the away end chanted the Frenchman’s name.

The 23-year-old was grinning from ear to ear in his post-match interview as he addressed the supporters.

“I think (the fans singing my name) is a good thing for me,” Barry explained.

“The last game I didn’t score my penalty and I felt very bad for this because it’s only the second-ever penalty I’ve missed in my career.

How good was Thierno Barry by the way? 🔥

“When I came today, in my head, I knew I had to play well for the fans. I played for them, and I’m very happy to score, which helps put the previous game in the past.

“I don’t know about the statistics but always when I go to the pitch, I’m wanting to score goals.”

Alan Myers has been so impressed by Thierno Barry lately

In Alan Myers’ exclusive Everton News column, he heaped praise on the young French striker and noted that he’s growing in confidence.

“Another player to catch my eye was Thierno Barry,” Myers wrote. “From minute one of the game he was at it – challenging for every header and running across the frontline looking to pressure the Villa defence whenever possible.”

Alan Myers isn’t a fan of Youssef En-Nesyri…who should Everton sign instead? 🤔

Myers added: “The Frenchman has had his fair share of criticism since his £27m move in the summer, but it was always going to take time for the 23-year-old to get used to new surroundings.

“He still has a long way to go yet before he can completely convince the Everton faithful, but his performances are definitely improving with both confidence and hunger getting more evident by the week.”
