Thierno Barry might be sweating about who Everton are now targeting

Everton are understood to be in the market for a new striker – and interest in Christian Kofane may have Thierno Barry sitting nervously.

It’s been a positive past couple of weeks for the Toffees.

Hayden Hackney is in for a deal worth up to £25 million, and he was then followed by permanent deals for Tyrique George and Merlin Rohl.

Now Hackney is confirmed, who should Everton be bringing in next? 💰

The work won’t stop for Everton officials, with a number of positions still needing attention.

Right-back is perhaps the most pressing need.

But many fans would love to see a new striker in, and it appears that Christian Kofane is on the club’s radar.

It was reported earlier this week that Everton had made an offer for Christian Kofane, the promising young striker from Bayer Leverkusen.

The youngster has enjoyed a very quick rise since coming onto the scene a couple of years ago, and several sides have been looking at him, including Arsenal, Newcastle United and Barcelona.

But it appears Everton’s interest could be the most advanced.

Following those initial reports, David Schill of daily-arsenal.com has claimed on X that the player’s representative, Eric Depolo, has told him that David Moyes ‘loves’ the 19-year-old.

The apparent interest in Kofane may well have significance for Thierno Barry.

The pair have similar physical profiles, and Barry is only a few years older than Kofane. So if Kofane was coming in then it wouldn’t make a great deal of sense to have both.

And it would surely be Barry whose position would be in jeopardy over Beto. Because Beto is older and more experienced.

For Everton to get rid of Beto and go into the new season with Barry and Kofane would perhaps be a little too risky.

While Beto has never been prolific, we have seen him go on goalscoring runs, and he is still at the very least a handful and a workhorse when he isn’t scoring.

Barry has recently been linked with a move to RB Leipzig, which was ominous.

So amid the interest in Kofane, one does wonder if Everton are looking to sell him to the German side.
