Everton are seeking to get back to winning ways against Brentford after dropping points against Manchester United at the weekend.

The Toffees could only draw 2-2 with United at Goodison Park, despite having been in a commanding position in the game.

There was controversy at the end of the game when Ashley Young went down under a challenge in the box. A penalty was initially given by referee Andy Madley.

But VAR encouraged him to reverse his decision. Alan Shearer called the VAR decision ‘mind-boggling’.

But Everton will now put that frustration behind them and go in pursuit of a victory against Brentford.

And their manager Thomas Frank has been speaking about Everton and their improvement under David Moyes.

Ultimately, Moyes has come in and breathed new life into the football club.

Under Sean Dyche, there was constant negativity and worry, which had been brought on by the football on show at Goodison Park.

The players lacked belief and confidence, but now those things are in abundance.

Thomas Frank spoke about Everton ahead of Wednesday night’s clash with Brentford, and believes the personnel changes have helped the Toffees – and there was particular praise for the impact made by James Garner.

He said: “The main reason, maybe, is the change of personnel. [Jake] O’Brien is playing right-back right now, [Jesper] Lindstrøm more regularly as a right winger. [James] Garner is playing in midfield – I think he’s done brilliantly, he’s been really, really good. And Beto up front.”

Garner has been key for Everton

A number of players have really stepped up for Everton under Moyes.

Beto has probably had most of the attention given his great goalscoring form under the Scot.

But £15 million signing (Sky Sports) Garner has also been crucial to Everton’s purple patch.

Moyes has wanted Everton to have more possession in games and Garner is a player who likes to get on the ball and dictate play.

He’s a great complement to the tough-tackling Idrissa Gana Gueye, and looks right at home in Everton’s engine room.

Garner really stood out in Everton’s win over Leicester, and that pass through to Beto just shows how brilliant his vision and playmaking is. Hopefully, he can continue his great form on Wednesday night against Brentford.
