Everton fans are expecting big things this summer, and the club are already being challenged by Brentford for one reported target
There is major disappointment about the way Everton finished the season.
Are there any players from the relegated clubs you want to see Everton go after this summer? 🤔
Wolves, Burnley and West Ham have all lost their Premier League status…
The Toffees really threw away a golden opportunity to play in Europe next term, and Evertonians now want to see a response.
A number of positions are on the agenda ahead of the summer.
And Everton are thought to be keen to add a new forward.
One player who’s reportedly been on Everton’s radar is Said El Mala, but it seems the Toffees are already up against it to land him.
Brentford move quickly for Said El Mala amid Everton interest
It was reported in April that Everton were in the mix to sign El Mala this summer, following an impressive season with Koln in Germany.
Bild, who made the claim, also said at the time that there was interest from Newcastle United and Brentford.
And now, it’s been claimed that the latter have tabled an offer for the player ahead of the window opening.

Florian Plettenburg wrote on X this afternoon: “Brentford have submitted an offer worth €45m (€40m fixed + €5m add-ons) to 1. FC Köln for Said El Mala.
“Köln have not responded yet. They still want at least €50m, after @AxelHesse1. Confirmed. #Effzeh El Mala has not yet agreed terms with Brentford.
“The player first wants the clubs to negotiate.”
Rivals could leave Everton behind
So that’s Brentford already looking to make a positive change to their squad, after narrowly missing out on European football.
The window may not be open yet, but the Bees are clearly already hard at work, which is admirable.
This should now spring Everton into life.

El Mala may or may not be near the top of their list, but it would surely be in Everton’s best interests to get busy early this summer, especially with the World Cup about to take place.
Everton finished behind Bournemouth, Sunderland, Brighton, Fulham and Brentford in 2025/26, which should not really be happening.
But all of these clubs will look to push on again this summer, and there is a risk of Everton falling further behind if the Toffees don’t operate with speed and precision in the next window.
