Everton’s fierce rivals Liverpool are on the verge of a Premier League title.

If Arne Slot’s men pick up a win or draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon, they’ll be crowned Premier League champions for only the second time in their history.

Arne Slot’s men have built up a sizable lead on their closest title rivals Arsenal, who reside 12 points adrift from the summit.

The blue half of Liverpool will be hoping Tottenham upset the applecart today, but it will only delay the inevitable.

And, taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, former world champion boxer and Everton fan Tony Bellew has aimed a hilarious dig at the Reds ahead of their expected title triumph.

Tony Bellew aims hilarious dig at Liverpool

Bellew posted on X ahead of Liverpool’s clash against Tottenham and it seemed as though he was congratulating Slot’s side for their soon-to-be second Premier League title.

But, the Everton fan was instead tipping his hat to Celtic, who have just won the Scottish Premiership title this weekend.

Bellew wrote: “ALERT!! ALERT!! Don’t want to be labelled as a “bitter blue” Evertonian, so I’ll give credit where it’s due.

“They’re gonna be crowned league champions this weekend ..and deservedly so..and let’s be honest they have been the best team in the league this season, you can’t argue with that, they are the deserved league champions… so well done Celtic.”

Celtic made it four in a row on Saturday

Celtic clinched their fourth Scottish Premiership title on Saturday afternoon as they thrashed Dundee United 5-0.

Brendan Rodgers’ side extended their lead on Rangers to a whopping 17 points, with the Gers drawing 2-2 at St Mirren.

Celtic have now won 55 top-flight titles, which ties them level with their fierce rivals, who last won it in 2021 under Steven Gerrard.

Rangers are about to be taken over by Leeds United’s owners, the San Francisco 49ers, so they’re expected to be much more competitive over the coming years.
