Everton suffered a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

David Moyes side produced a battling display, but ultimately, one error cost them in the capital as Nicolas Jackson capitalised from a Beto mistake.

Tim Sherwood was critical of Jordan Pickford’s performance and Moyes was seen shouting at James Garner throughout.

Garner’s set-pieces were really poor as Chelsea’s shot-stopper Robert Sanchez kept claiming his deliveries pretty comfortably.

So, it was an incredibly frustrating afternoon, but one Everton player can hold his head up high after a superb display, which even left Chelsea fans stunned.

Chelsea fans blown away by Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite

Everton suffered their second successive defeat at the Bridge on Saturday and it’s now just one win in nine.

But, despite being on the losing side, Chelsea fans were really impressed by Jarrad Branthwaite’s performance and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to hail the 22-year-old.

@lnmradford said: “Branthwaite was incredible today would love to see him in a Chelsea shirt! He’s such a Chelsea type player too!”

“Branthwaite is a proper defender. I honestly would sell Colwill for him,” @RealRambo_ posted.

@cfcgabby added: “Branthwaite is having an insane game.”

@GoldbergCFC commented: “Branthwaite moved me a bit today. Really warming on me…”

“What’s the price tag for Branthwaite? I think he should be one of the centre-backs Chelsea take seriously. He has the quality we are looking for, plus some Premier League experience. His physical characteristics and aerial ability are also top-notch. He did well today,” @CFC_Greatday explained.

“I saw more from Branthwaite in that game than I have from Colwill all season defensively I’ll be real,” @CFCAK said.

Branthwaite was unlucky to be on the losing team and his display will certainly alert the West Londoners ahead of the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are already showing a serious interest in Branthwaite, as are Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
