Tottenham now want to sign player who Everton sold in 2023

Everton suffered a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham on the final day, which kept Spurs in the Premier League and saw the Toffees end the season without a win in seven games.

It was a woeful display as David Moyes watched his side put up a miserable fight for the European places in the final weeks of the campaign, and the danger now is that sides like Tottenham kick on and leapfrog Everton.

Roberto De Zerbi has big plans in N17 after keeping Spurs up, and one of his first requests is actually the signing of former Everton striker Moise Kean – according to Firenze Viola.

Spurs keen on Moise Kean

The Italian news outlet believe Tottenham want to bring the Italy international back to the Premier League – three years on from Everton selling the forward to Juventus.

Everton signed Kean – who found like “difficult” at Goodison Park – from Juventus for £29m back in August 2019, but the former PSG striker only managed to score four goals in 39 appearances as he struggled to assert himself on Merseyside.

The Toffees later agreed to sell the Italian back to Juventus for £25m in March 2023.

Now, after Kean – who Manchester United like – resurrected his career at Fiorentina with 34 goals in 77 appearances so far, Tottenham are eager to bring him back to England and show Everton what they gave up on.

Fabio Paratici – formerly the Sporting Director at Spurs – currently holds the same position at Fiorentina, but is standing firm on Kean’s €62m (£54m) release clause at this moment in time, which expires on July 15th.

Firenze Viola state that Tottenham intend to spend €40m (£35m) on a new attacker, so a negotiation looks set to be required.

Everton would not benefit financially through a sell-on clause if Kean does make the move to Tottenham, as Juventus have already sold the 26-year-old to Fiorentina since buying him from Everton in 2023.

Are there any players from the relegated clubs you want to see Everton go after this summer? 🤔

With Thierno Barry and Beto struggling to shine, it would be quite the embarrassment for Everton if a striker who was sold in 2023 comes back to outdo the pair of them in north London.
