Everton’s desire to sign a new right-back this summer is no secret, and one update may be good news for the Toffees.
David Moyes needs several additions in the upcoming window to try and make a better fist of pushing for Europe in 2026/27.
Everton came close in the season just gone, but fell away at the end.
Everton need a transfer budget of at least _________ this summer
Fill in the blank…
Moyes has rightly come in for criticism for that, putting square pegs in round holes.
One player he’s done with this routinely is Jake O’Brien, who has played the majority of his minutes at right-back.
Many were disappointed that he wasn’t shifted into the middle when Jarrad Branthwaite got injured.
But the idea is to do that from the start of next season, and Everton have reportedly had eyes on Georgios Vagiannidis.

Sporting want Vagiannidis sale to sign replacement

Potentially we may now see some movement from Everton in their pursuit of Vagiannidis.
That’s because Bola Na Rede have reported that Sporting have now marked out a player they want to sign to replace the Greece international.
That player is Javi Rodríguez of Spanish club Celta Vigo.
The Portuguese giants are said to admire his qualities, but any deal will be dependent on Sporting selling Vagiannidis.
That could mean they engage in negotiations with Everton.
As they want to move him on, it may be that there’s a chance for Everton to sign Vagiannidis for slightly below his value, which is around £8.5 million.
If you were Angus Kinnear who would you be going all out for this summer? 💰
Interestingly, Everton have actually been linked with Celta Vigo’s other right-back this summer in Oscar Mingueza.
The club have also been credited with an interest in Aaron Wan-Bissaka following West Ham United’s relegation from the Premier League.
The window is not yet open, but Everton ideally need to get this position sorted as quickly as possible, given it has been a position that’s needed strengthening for so long.
