Everton picked up another three points on the weekend as they defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park.

The Toffees had to dig deep and soak up Palace’s pressure but ultimately they took their moments through Beto and Carlos Alcaraz, who netted the winner on his full Premier League debut with the club.

Victory moves Everton 13 points clear of the relegation zone, which has near enough secured their safety for another year.

Troy Deeney names Beto in Team of the Week

Everton striker Beto continued his prolific form on the weekend as he netted his fourth goal in his last three outings.

Former Watford man Troy Deeney has named the 27-year-old in his Premier League Team of the Week, hailing him as ‘excellent.’

“He had half a good season at Udinese, which is obviously why Everton bought him, but he struggled to get involved under Sean Dyche,” Deeney wrote in his BBC Sport column.

“Since David Moyes has been in, he has been excellent. He has been a whole different player. Another goal, fitter, stronger, braver.”

David Moyes says Beto is constantly improving

Speaking after the Palace win, Moyes heaped praise on Beto for his improvements in recent weeks.

“Everyone needs an opportunity in life and in football you need that chance,” the Everton boss said.

“I think he is getting better and we are beginning to understand him a bit more. I have got to say, he has done brilliantly well.”

Beto is now beginning to look every inch of the £30m striker Everton thought they were signing from Udinese in 2023.

Perhaps he just needed that little bit of trust, which he didn’t get from Dyche, but so far, Moyes is certainly getting the best out of him.
