Everton are keeping a close eye on Troy Parrott.

The Irishman is enjoying a remarkable season for both club and country, netting 19 goals in 24 appearances for AZ Alkmaar and five goals in just four games for the Republic of Ireland.

Everton News understand the Toffees have scouted Parrott since the start of the campaign, and remain interested as The Friedkin Group consider signing a new striker for David Moyes.

Now, Miguel Delaney has told The Football Show what the AZ Alkmaar No.9 has in mind about his next step as Everton lurk.

David Moyes handed boost as Troy Parrott ambitions align with Everton

The 23-year-old is apparently looking to join a stable but ambitious side in England, which is very much what Everton are.

Surely he would be the perfect striker signing for Everton this month? 🔥

He simply cannot stop scoring 🤯

Delaney said: “There’s about three or four clubs that would want Parrott.

“From what I’ve heard, him and people around him, if they’re going to the Premier League, they want it to be regular football at a top ten, progressive side or upwardly mobile side. They don’t want to be in a situation where they’re suddenly potentially in the Championship in a year and kind of have to think about that, and if they can’t get that, they would love to go to Germany.”

Everton have never been outside of the Premier League and are currently just four points off fifth place, so the Toffees certainly sound like they align with what Parrott is looking for.

Talks with AZ Alkmaar may yet prove to be problematic for Everton

By the sounds of what Delaney revealed, Everton might find it simple to agree personal terms with Parrott, who also earns a relatively modest salary (for a footballer) of £16,337-a-week, according to Capology.

However, discussions over a fee with AZ Alkmaar look likely to be much tougher.

Reports suggest the Dutch side want £30m for Parrott, and they are in a strong position to hold firm given the fact he remains under contract until July 2029.

Which former Everton striker would you hypothetically bring back to play in the current side? 🤩

Ironically, it is the opposite to the situation involving another Everton target in Youssef En-Nesyri.

Fenerbahce have accepted a loan bid from Everton for the Morocco international, according to reports in Turkey, but the striker himself is believed to be against a move to England.

So, Everton will need to be particularly persuasive if they are to sign either Parrott or En-Nesyri this winter.
