Everton remain keen on Youssef En-Nesyri – and a positive update about the Fenerbahce striker arrived this afternoon.
The Toffees are keen to land a new striker this month having seen how Thierno Barry and Beto have struggled.
How big of a risk is this for Everton? 😫
Scoring goals in Turkey is completely different to the Premier League…
A right-back has been the priority for Everton. But the club have also been scouring the striker’s market to see if any deals can be done.
And Youssef En-Nesyri has emerged as a player of interest for Everton.
On Tuesday, Fabrizio Romano reported Everton made a loan proposal for En-Nesyri that included a £17 million buy option.
Now, there’s been another development.
Fenerbahce accept Everton’s offer to pay Youssef En-Nesyri’s half season salary

It has been reported by Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu – who boasts a following of over two million accounts on X – that Everton have made progress with Fenerbahce over En-Nesyri.
He says that Everton have proposed £4 million to cover En-Nesyri’s salary for the remaining half season.
And he says that Fenerbahce have accepted this proposal.
Sabuncuoglu’s words on x were: “Everton has offered to pay 4.5 million euros for En-Nesyri’s half-season salary, Fenerbahçe has accepted, but the Moroccan striker hasn’t been convinced yet!”
Surely any hungry striker would leap at the chance to play in the Premier League? 🫣
Not the best look for Everton's potential new striker…
But one crucial thing that’s missing for Everton right now is the player’s green light.
It has previously been suggested that E-Nesyri has reservations about the UK climate, which has the potential to scupper a deal.
In addition to this, Everton News columnist Alan Myers has also reported that En-Nesyri is happy playing in Turkey.
Everton could ramp up En-Nesyri pursuit after AFCON
At the moment it seems that a move is going to hinge on En-Nesyri himself.
But with the player set to be involved in the AFCON final with Morocco on Sunday, a decision from him may not be imminent.
The likelihood is that game against Senegal will have his full focus. He probably isn’t going to be thinking about his immediate future in the coming days.

So next week may well be when there are further developments with En-Nesyri.
But Everton do reportedly face competition from Napoli for En-Nesyri, as well as a few other clubs, so Toffees officials will need to be decisive if they really want him.
Ideally, Everton will make progress next week, and the arrival of En-Nesyri could then pave the way for Beto – who has interest from clubs in Italy – to depart.
