Everton have been linked with a move to sign AZ Alkmaar striker Troy Parrott over the last few months.

It was reported back in November that Everton were scouting Parrott and were actually in attendance when he scored twice for the Republic of Ireland against Portugal.

The Toffees have been informed that Parrott would cost around £31m after his prolific season in the Dutch league.

The 23-year-old has netted 16 times in 22 outings for Alkmaar, and that’s without mentioning the five goals he’s scored for Ireland.

Now, there is an interesting development emerging which could boost Everton in the race to land his signature.

Everton given hope of signing Troy Parrott

Parrott was a very hot topic in the Everton sphere towards the end of 2025, but those rumours have gone a little bit quiet recently.

That can sometimes be a good sign though, as Toffees staff may be quietly working on the deal behind the scenes.

Interestingly, Alkmaar have actually just signed a new striker over the last 24 hours, as they announced the addition of Jizz Hornkamp from Heracles Almelo.

Hornkamp cost just shy of £4m, which is actually one of Alkmaar’s most expensive signings in their history.

So, that does appear to point towards the fact that they’re anticipating Parrott to leave this month, with Everton well-placed to land his signature.

Everton face competition for Troy Parrott

It’s understood that Everton aren’t the only Premier League club wanting to sign Parrott this winter window.

According to GiveMeSport, Leeds United are showing an interest in the 23-year-old and West Ham have also been namechecked previously.

Indeed, the Toffees have a much better chance of signing Parrott, given their superior league position, so as long as they meet Alkmaar’s price tag, it should be a very doable deal to do.

Wolves centre-forward Jorgen Strand Larsen is also emerging as a target for Everton, along with Artem Dovbyk and Ivan Toney.

So, there are plenty of options out there for Moyes.
