Everton are in the market for a centre-forward this January transfer window and are exploring a number of deals.

David Moyes has been looking at Artem Dovbyk from AS Roma, while Ivan Toney has also been linked to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Wolves frontman Jorgen Strand Larsen has also emerged as a target over the last few days, although that deal seems unlikely.

Everton more than likely won’t be signing Ricardo Pepi

Everton have been showing an interest in Ricardo Pepi after his impressive start to the season with Dutch giants PSV.

It was previously reported that PSV would sell Pepi for around £35m, but Voetbal International journalist Tim Reedijk has now poured cold water on the potential signing.

Alan Myers Q&A on talking points

Reedijk has taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, and posted: “PSV will absolutely not sell Ricardo Pepi and a bid from Fulham has changed nothing about that.”

PSV are currently sitting top of the Eredivisie with an 11-point lead on second-placed Feyenoord, so they’re clearly desperate to retain their star players for the remainder of the season.

So, it’s back to the drawing board for Moyes and his recruitment staff.

Everton will need to spend January budget smartly

Everton are expected to make three new signings this month, with Alan Myers predicting a striker, midfielder and full-back to be recruited.

So, quite clearly, the Toffees probably won’t be able to shell out more than £30m on a new centre-forward.

Should Everton even be shopping in the Championship for new signings? 🤨

They will have to spend smartly and allow funds to be allocated towards the other two positions, so the aforementioned Toney and Strand Larsen may be out of their budget.

A loan may actually be on the cards, and Tottenham Hotspur’s Richarlison has been mooted with a return to Merseyside.

An intriguing month lies ahead for the Toffees.
