Everton have now officially been handed a boost in their pursuit of Champions League qualification.
On Tuesday evening, it was confirmed that the Premier League has earned a fifth spot in next season’s Champions League.

It is still possible for the Premier League to secure seven Champions League spots for next season, but that remains unlikely.
That would require Liverpool to win this season’s competition and Aston Villa to win the Europa League.

However, fifth place will now secure a spot in the competition for the 2026/27 term.
It was confirmed by UEFA on Tuesday evening following Arsenal’s late win against Sporting CP in the first leg of their quarter-final clash.
Although it was expected, it will prove a real boost to Everton’s European hopes now another spot is there to be played for.
Where Everton sit in the Champions League race
With seven games remaining in the season, the race for the Champions League will see Everton face two of their closest rivals in the league table.
A tough run of fixtures lies ahead of the Toffees, but they could also be seen as the perfect games to take points from their European rivals.
Next up for Moyes’ men is an away trip to Brentford before hosting the first-ever Merseyside Derby at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
