It doesn’t seem like an Everton game can end normally at the moment, as there was plenty of controversy at the end of the 2-2 draw with Manchester United.

Despite a disappointing ending, Everton have stretched their unbeaten run to six games after drawing Man United.

A 2-0 lead was ultimately bottled by David Moyes’ side as even though Beto scored his fifth goal in four games, it’s two points dropped by the Toffees.

Moyes was close to sending United a message if Everton had won, beating the club who sacked him in 2014.

Alas, the game ended all square, but there was fury at the end of the game, as VAR have been told they made a huge error.

Rio Ferdinand told VAR the penalty decision was wrong in Everton 2-2 Man United

There was outrage from Evertonians right at the end of the game as Harry Maguire was deemed to have fouled Ashley Young after a shirt tug in the penalty area.

Originally Andy Madley awarded the spot kick but after a ridiculously lengthy check, VAR didn’t give the penalty to Moyes’ side.

Mike Dean agreed with the decision against Everton, but former United defender Rio Ferdinand was ‘surprised’ the penalty wasn’t given.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the full-time whistle, Ferdinand said: “I was feeling the worst when I saw VAR getting involved.

“I was surprised it wasn’t given.

“The contact is there, Maguire has his hands around Young.”

Major error could cost Everton’s momentum under Moyes

With Everton cruising at 2-0, it’s certainly a shock the game ended 2-2.

The Toffees completely outclassed United in the first half and did until the last 20 minutes until Ruben Amorim’s side took control.

However, due to drawing when they really should’ve won, Moyes now has the hard task of picking up a deflated squad that ultimately dropped two points on Saturday afternoon.

It might not mean anything, but if you begin to see a drop-off, this game could be the reason.
