Everton have been reaching out to a number of transfer targets over the last few weeks.

We understand that David Moyes is keen on signing Manchester City’s John Stones, who is open to a return to Everton.

The Toffees are also eyeing a move to sign Yves Bissouma, with the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder entering the final 12 months of his contract.

Stuttgart’s prolific centre-forward Nick Woltemade is on Moyes’ radar, too, and is thought to be available for around £34m.

One of Everton’s other rumoured targets has been given glowing praise by Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.

Virgil van Dijk heaps praise on Everton target Ben Doak

Everton are in talks to sign Liverpool winger Ben Doak, which could see the two clubs do business together for the first time since 1992.

Moyes is a big fan of Doak, who impressed with Middlesbrough in the Championship last season, registering 10 goal involvements.

Liverpool have slapped a £30m price tag on the 19-year-old, who is highly rated by his teammates at Anfield.

Virgil van Dijk tipped Doak for a really bright future after a Europa League tie against LASK back in September 2023.

“It was a big night for him,” the Reds captain said. “It was never going to be easy, it was a difficult pitch, but he could have set up at least two goals in the first half where he went past his man like no one was there.

“Unfortunately nobody was on the end of it. But I am pleased for him and I’m also very excited for him and the future that’s coming. So we are really pleased with the night because there were many positives on what was always going to be a tough test.”

Arne Slot yet to decide Doak’s future

It’s being reported that Arne Slot is putting Doak’s future on hold as he is yet to decide whether to sanction his sale on a permanent deal.

The Dutchman is planning to have a look at him in pre-season in the hope that it’ll ready him for first-team football at Liverpool.

So, even if the Reds decide to offload Doak, it likely won’t be until the end of pre-season. For that reason, the Toffees should focus on other targets.

Man City winger Jack Grealish continues to be linked to Goodison Park and David Ornstein reckons that deal could materialise.

A telling summer awaits.
