Watch Everton’s Jack Harrison share heartwarming moment with mum among fans after Burnley win

Everton’s Jack Harrison has become a fan favourite over recent weeks amid fine form, and now a heartwarming moment has touched fans.

Jack Harrison may only be on loan at Everton this season but he really feels like he belongs and fans are keen for his stay to be extended.

This is clearly a sentiment which is shared by Sean Dyche who has made Harrison a key player in his team this season. A regular feature during the incredible form of late, which has led Rio Ferdinand to wish Harrison was at Old Trafford.

However, after Everton’s most recent win which saw a 2-0 victory at Turf Moor, Harrison has been praised not only for his display but also for a touching moment he shared with his mother following the victory.

Harrison’s mother Debbie was in the away end at the Turf alongside Toffees supporters and after the game, they shared an embrace which was heartwarming to see.

A beautiful moment coupled with the fact he gave his shirt to a young Toffees fan only makes it sweeter. His mother being in the away end says a lot about how much he and his family must be enjoying his time at Everton, which makes it even likelier to continue.

Jack Harrison on his mums influence

Harrison like many is influenced by his mum to a serious extent with her input meaning a great deal. This was the case when he moved to America with his mum for a footballish scholarship.

Harrison as a youngster was playing at Carrington for Manchester United at youth level but as his mum struggled to make ends meet, she was keen for him not to have the same concerns.

When a move to the USA was first suggested, Harrison is believed to have had no interest at all given it’s every 12-year-old’s dream to be in the Manchester United academy.

However, his mum did one thing which changed his mind – as ESPN reported – when she took him to the photos of the countless academy players, she then asked: “I just want to know, do you recognize anyone on that team? Or that one?”

The answer was no and a move to the USA was on, a move which changed Harrison as a person and as an athlete and he attributes much of this to the player he is today.

Therefore, the USA and a top scholarship was the right decision with the chance to earn a college degree alongside playing football.

This is significant for Everton, given how happy Debbie looked which could bode well for the club’s chances of retaining him beyond this campaign, despite a recent setback.

Jack Harrison’s storied career thus far

Harrison’s youth career actually began at Liverpool before his move to United however his first true first-team professional action came in the USA.

Harrison was drafted to Chicago Fire in the 2016 MLS draft however a day later he was sent to Manchester City affiliated New York City FC.

After impressing here, Man City then brought him back to England in January 2018 before sending him to Middlesbrough on loan a day later.

This loan was just six months long, and on completion, Harrison was sent to Leeds on loan for the 2018/19 season for two years.

This resulted in Harrison becoming a favourite at Leeds and he made the permanent move there in 2021.

Harrison enjoyed his best time at Elland Road, with 206 appearances yielding 34 goals and 32 assists in total, according to Transfermarkt.

That ended though last summer as Leeds dropped to the Championship which saw the winger jump ship to Goodison Park until June 2024.

That being said, Everton should be trying everything they can to keep him permanently.
