Former Everton forward Wayne Rooney has admitted Ronald Koeman’s quiet demeanour was slightly unusual.

It was Koeman who brought Rooney back to Merseyside for his second stint at his boyhood club.

The Dutchman did not manage the England legend for too long, with his sacking coming just months into the 2017/18 campaign.

What Wayne Rooney found odd about former Everton manager Ronaldo Koeman

Phil Jagielka criticised Koeman for not understanding how big the club actually was when he landed on Merseyside.

Speaking on The Wayne Rooney Show, the man himself and Jagielka discussed Koeman’s quirks on display at Finch Farm.

“Quiet wasn’t he? Koeman I think is different to Van Gaal, he’d join in training sometimes and he was brilliant, he wouldn’t give the ball away, he was really calm,” said Rooney.

“I felt some of his training methods were a bit odd, we’d do the bleep test quite a lot wouldn’t we?”

Although the 40-year-old questioned some of the Dutchman’s techniques, Rooney has praised Koeman in the past.

There were plenty of Everton supporters wanting Koeman’s tenure to come to an end, but his record was nowhere near as bad as other previous managers.

It may have been a short relationship between Koeman and Rooney, but the Englishman enjoyed a solid return, considering he rejoined Everton at the backend of his career.

During his 15 appearances under Koeman, Rooney returned five goals and one assist across all competitions.

Rooney also questioned Sam Allardyce’s Everton training techniques, with the England legend making it very clear just how he liked to operate.
