Everton fans will probably still be in shock by the fact they had Carlo Ancelotti as Toffees boss.
It’s a weird scenario looking back at Ancelotti being the manager of Everton.
No disrespect to the club, but the fact Ancelotti has thrived at Real Madrid and AC Milan shows it’s still a surprising move for the Italian to this day.
Nevertheless, the veteran manager made the move his own, as Evertonians would take Ancelotti back in a heartbeat.
Abdoulaye Doucoure is someone who loved Ancelotti at Everton and has described an unusual managerial tactic the Italian used.

What Carlo Ancelotti did that ‘fascinated’ Abdoulaye Doucoure
Ancelotti was honest about ditching Everton but it doesn’t seem there is anything he could do to upset the Toffees fanbase.
‘Don Carlo’ as he was called at Goodison Park, was a saint in the eyes of Evertonians, and his unique managing style hinders as to why he’s called this.
Speaking to the Overlap Breakdown, Doucoure has given an insight into life as a footballer under the great Ancelotti.
“I said, like, this guy doesn’t play, but he’s more happy than me,” Doucoure said.
“I was saying, like, what is the key? And I see Carlo talking to them, like as a friend, you know, talking to them, saying like, you know, I have to choose eleven players.
“Obviously, (he’ll say) I leave you on the bench. I’m sorry for that, but you’re going to have your chance. And you just keep on going.
“I was fascinated by this management, you know. I think that’s why you know how to manage big players. And that’s why you have this massive success.”

Doucoure was an absolute machine under Ancelotti at Everton
Many will say Doucoure played his best football under Sean Dyche, which is true from a goalscoring perspective.
In terms of his box-to-box role at Everton though, he was excellent in his first season at Everton under Ancelotti.
| Doucoure’s statistics for Everton in the 20/21 Premier League season | |
| Games played | 21 |
| Assists | 3 |
| Tackles won % | 61.5% (32/52) |
| Aerial duels won | 38 |
| Touches in opposition box | 35 |
Doucoure almost left Everton because of Frank Lampard, which is an incredible contrast considering his performances under Ancelotti a few seasons before.
Despite David Moyes’ brilliance so far during his second spell, you wouldn’t count out on Everton fans favouring the Italian returning.
