Everton’s summer transfer business was largely a big success, but Adam Aznou is proving a real outlier as his struggles continue.
With the January transfer window creeping up on Everton, there is going to be a big opportunity for The Friedkin Group to truly show their ambition.
David Moyes was delighted with Everton’s summer business after landing some big-name additions like Jack Grealish.
Given the significant player turnover on Merseyside, it proved impossible for the Toffees to tick off every need in just one window.
Everton News understands that, as well as a striker, Everton are keen to add at full-back in January.
Aznou is still searching for his first competitive minutes under Moyes, who has even used James Garner at left-back this season.
January is going to be a month of opportunities in the market for Everton and Aznou is a player whose future will have to be considered.

Everton considering January loan for Adam Aznou
Earlier this month, it was suggested that Everton held concerns over Aznou’s physicality having not played a single minute this season.
It has been a disappointing start to life on Merseyside for Aznou following his move from Bayern Munich over the summer.
According to The Athletic, one option being considered by Everton is a possible loan exit for Aznou in January.
No timeframe has been put on Aznou breaking into the starting XI having watched the last eight league games from the bench.
However, it has been a sobering introduction to life in England for the left-back after enjoying regular minutes last season with Real Valladolid.
It has been reported elsewhere that Aznou is not overly pleased at Everton given the lack of minutes currently on offer.
With Moyes continuing with Vitalii Mykolenko at left-back, the writing may well be on the wall for the young Moroccan.
Mykolenko is open to discussing a new Everton contract, which could set Aznou even further back in his hopes of making a name for himself on Merseyside.
Everton need an attack-minded left-back
It is believed that Everton are keen to sign an attack-minded right-back to improve on what Jake O’Brien is currently offering.
The same could well be needed on the left side of the defence, too.
Moyes has admitted he wants more out of his full-backs through creating opportunities for the two respective strikers.
| 2025/26 Premier League | Jake O’Brien | Vitalii Mykolenko |
| Appearances | 11 | 8 |
| Goals | 0 | 0 |
| Assists | 0 | 0 |
There was an element of improvement at the weekend against Fulham, but none of the current options at the 62-year-old’s disposal can offer consistency going forward.
January could prove significant for Everton as they aim to add some quality to the work that was done over the summer.
Angus Kinnear will be all too aware of the areas where improvements are needed.
