Everton return to Premier League action today as they take on Tottenham Hotspur at Goodison Park.

David Moyes’ first game back in charge of the Toffees resulted in a narrow 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa, so he’ll be desperate to get into the win column this afternoon.

Tottenham have really struggled this season and sit just one place above Everton in the table, having lost a whopping 11 times already.

It’s certainly a winnable game for Moyes’ side but they must find an answer to their goalscoring woes.

Everton have failed to score in nine of their last 11 games, so it’s evident something needs to change and quickly.

That said, Moyes is leading a very different approach to training than Sean Dyche and it should really help.

Everton insiders say David Moyes’ training sessions have much more attacking drills

According to the Daily Mail, Everton insiders believe Moyes’ training sessions have much more of an attacking focus in them than Dyche’s.

The Scotsman has introduced far more attacking drills and it’s understood that players prefer daily life under his stewardship.

Dyche’s sessions were focused more on solidity and shape, so it’s hardly surprising the goals dried up during his tenure.

Moyes has also given fringe players a new lease of life, like Jake O’Brien for example, who’s already played more Premier League football now than in the previous five months of the season.

The £17m summer arrival is expected to play a much more prominent role as is Jesper Lindstrom.

Moyes still needs January additions

Clearly, the attacking sessions under Moyes will help to solve the goalscoring woes but that’s only half of the problem.

The squad is in desperate need of more attacking quality and the club are in the market to sign a wide player.

It’s understood Willian has been offered to Everton whilst talks are ongoing to sign Lyon’s Ernest Nuamah.

A striker should also be on their transfer shortlist, with Armando Broja set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines and Dominic Calvert-Lewin bereft of confidence.
